Call, Collaborative Art Project:
“In Plain Sight, We the People”
Project to embroider the Constitution in public spaces everywhere in the United States and territories, in plain sight.
The Constitution was written by and for white men with property. The later Amendments helped to address some of this inequities.
The Constitution has 4,573 words, the Amendment has 7,500 words.
Fabric: White, off white , beige and black silk (can be provided, if needed). They were rich, many slave owners, who wore silk garments.
Embroidery thread: white (gold and silver may be added too). Tiny dots of black, brown, yellow, red and pale peach barely visible.
More color for the later Amendments.
Embroidery stitches (font): up to you
All by hand or part by sewing machine
Document—photos of the work or very short video of your hands stitching only, sent on going of your work, your name and where, for posting to ACIprojects.org
I’ve started on the Preamble. I’ve bought gold thread to add.
Pick a part, you or your group, and tell me what you’re thinking and will be doing. Travel with it. Embroider the Constitution and the Amendments Here, There and Everywhere
We the People, we are the people.
Please participate and pass it on to others. This project is open to everyone.
